The ATSC 3.0 roll-out continues even in the face of the Great Pandemic, albeit at modified pace. As multiple ATSC 3.0 stations launch in a market, attention inevitably turns to, “now what?”

The TV of Tomorrow (TVOT) virtual conference features a BIA-moderated panel examining this question from various perspectives. It runs Wednesday, September 9 from 3:35 – 4:20 pm EDT. (Enter code TVOT20BIAX2 for 50% discount on a ticket.)

This session will build on the lessons learned from the rollout of ATSC 3.0 to date. We’ll explore the long-term roadmap for the new standard, and identify the new user experiences and the new forms of monetization that it will enable.

Among other things, panelists will explain which sectors of the TV, video and advertising industries will be most impacted by the new standard, and outline some of the new business opportunities the standard will make possible for other sectors of the TV/video/advertising business.

In work released earlier this year, BIA forecast that using several different ATSC 3.0 business models could lift local TV revenue from a base 2020-2030 CAGR forecast of +3.8 percent to +8.0 percent CAGR. Local TV stations could see this increase in revenue from offering a mix of new services including advanced television and datacasting.
