I just heard from a reliable source at Apple that iPads have shipped early to Apple stores and are available for purchase.
They aren’t advertising the availability, so some casual shoppers will get a surprise. The list of stores wasn’t made clear but includes those in “most major U.S. cities.”
Update: I just visited the Apple store on Chestnut Street in San Francisco and am now the proud owner of a shiny new iPad.
