Local Matters today launched its beta. The site will focus on delivering a richer local search experience.

It was clear when I saw the site earlier this year that CEO Perry Evans and team spent considerable time and energy talking with consumers and learning what content elements have the most impact on influencing buying decisions.

I’d expect Local Matters to offer Yellow Pages publishers an opportunity to collaborate since many of publishers are pushing ahead with vertical guides focused on delivering more targeted and relevant buying and shopping information.

It’s not clear when the site will be up and running, but we expect it to add another wrinkle to the local search space. More will be posted throughout the day on Perry Evans’ blog.
