A Different Sort of Google Print: Part Deux

Personalized search came out of Google Labs today, and now Google is extending its network to offline print buying. This program has been going on for a number of months at least, but it's now getting a bit more visibility.

A new twist appears to be potential newspaper involvement. According to Danny Sullivan at SEW, Google is going to try this with a Chicago newspaper. Danny goes on to speculate whether such ads might appear in classifieds. If so, wouldn't that be strange/ironic — Google buying classifieds ad space even as Google Base/Automat appears to be a classifieds play (in part)?

Curiouser and curiouser.
